WOw, I can't believe someone would actually tell you your being  
paranoid. After all, if that were true, the sale of ups and  
suppressors wouldn't exist. Ask my father, I just replaced the power  
supply in his PC a few months ago do to a brownout or surge. Point is,  
he went out and purchased a ups for $30. So, for $30 or so, he's got  
that backup now.
