The Daisy standard is hardly a "bizarre format" and when made correctly the books are playable on existing iPods and other such devices. The issue here is not Daisy the issue is that NLS and to a lesser degree RFB&D have chosen to add digital rights management aka encryption to their books.
We make books without any DRM and include playlist so that they are playable on other non-Daisy devices. Daisy offers advantages such as multiple bookmarks, page and section navigation and the option to hear notes or not as needed. Daisy is a public standard and is published for all to use at www.daisy.org Gregory Kearney Manager - Accessible Media Association for the Blind of Western Australia 61 Kitchener Avenue, PO Box 101 Victoria Park 6979, WA Australia Telephone: +61 (08) 9311 8202 Telephone: +1 (307) 224-4022 (North America) Fax: +61 (08) 9361 8696 Toll free: 1800 658 388 (Australia only) Email: gkear...@gmail.com On Jul 16, 2009, at 12:53 AM, Barry Hadder wrote: > > That's definitely my vision of how things should be.
