Hi, The Safari beta installs a core framework for html rendering. This affects all apple applications that share this framework. In fact, one of the biggest issues with Safari 4 beta had to do with Mail.app plugins like rss plugins and password helper plugins.
So, it's because of this shared library of code that the Safari install affects other applications.
