Just out of curiosity, what is it you really want to know? If it is a matter of not doing extra work, I would personally be fine with m2e being updated for the latest released version of Eclipse only, and stopping for that version when a new Eclipse comes out. Backporting newer m2e versions to older versions of Eclipse could then be a "this you need to pay for thing".
Personally I do not like any "please let us collect information" dialogue, and would really appreciate if this kind of thing was avoided. Isn't there a way to collect the desired information from the marketplace? /Thorbjørn -----Original Message----- From: m2e-users-boun...@eclipse.org [mailto:m2e-users-boun...@eclipse.org] On Behalf Of Igor Fedorenko Sent: 2. september 2013 17:34 To: Maven Integration for Eclipse users mailing list; Maven Integration for Eclipse developers mailing list Subject: [m2e-users] m2e usage stats collection Just a heads up. I plan to enable m2e usage statistics reporting and collection starting with 1.5/Luna M2 and will backport it to 1.4/Kepler SR2 if everything goes well. I've opened bug 416371 [1] to track this work. I listed data I plan to collect and provided links to proposed implementation in the bug. I still need to figure out where to run statistics collection server. Ideally, I'd like to see it running somewhere at eclipse.org infrastructure and will contact webmaster to see if this is something they will be able to accommodate. Failing that, I have tentative agreement from Jason to run the server at his tesla.io infrastructure. Hopefully this will provide something more objective than gut feelings when we decide what eclipse and java versions m2e has to support.
