Helge, I realize this.
Looks like the float (image + caption) is a bit taller than half a page, then? You can have several floats on the same page, but there have to be room for them (and for some blank space between them too.)
There should be space; I keep making the two figures smaller.
If your floats are small enough, make sure they are allowed to appear anywhere on the page. If they are set to go only on the bottom, then they may go on separate pages even if there is room.
They can float where they wish. I have the two pages printed separate from the rest of the document. Since I cannot post them to the mail list (and don't want them public on the 'Net) I'll send them privately to you. If you have any ideas on how to put the two on the same page, I'd greatly appreciate learning of them. Thanks, Rich
