Yesterday I downloaded the latest memoir class to replace the 5-year-old version I had here. I placed all the .sty and .clo files in /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/memoir/, and memoir.layout in ~/.lyx/layouts.
Next, I ran /usr/share/texmf/bin/texhash, reconfigured LyX, killed the process, and started a new one. However, when I select the memoir book class for a document I'm writing, I get an error related to a section much later in the outline than where I'm currently working. The errors are that font commands (e.g. \sl and \rm) are not supported, and that \footruleskip is already defined. I've obviously messed up with the installation of the latest memoir class but have no idea how to fix things. I looked in the user guide, advanced features, and on the wiki without finding anything useful. A pointer to what I missed is greatly appreciated. Rich -- Richard B.
