Bennett: I was trying to compile a development version for testing myself, but you have made my life easier. LyX-1.5.6svn works well.
George: Blind guess: In System Preferences -> Displays, how many colours have you set? Thousands or Millions?
Konrad: I have set Millions of colours and the Display profile is the default iMac.
