If nothing helps, reinstall LyX 1.5.4 using the official installer that
uses a different method to update PDFs. But now you have a working and
full featured LaTeX installation and the third-party programs like
Ghostscript are up to date.
What is the reason to use this alternative PDF viewing method? I think
we should use the same application for both installers.
