But then, I am > known for having strange opinions... Slackware 12.0 is hardly a do-it-yourself distro. I've been installing versions for almost 10 years, and compiling LyXs for just under that. There are up-to-date packages for Qt, though I compiled the one needed for LyX myself, without problems. Though I can understand the feelings about Qt 4.4, I accept the criteria of the developpers too. I _would_ vote for a 'grace' period of, say 6 months to 1 year, to allow distros to be compiled and distributed with the necessary tools. Not everyone is able to compile a project like Qt (just one reason is that not everyone is able to read the instructions in English). John
