I haven't done this much myself, but I know there's been some discussion on the list before about using Xetex, which should allow you to incorporate regular truetype fonts without any extra work (aside from installation and configuration).

It might be worth a look through the archives (and the wiki?) to see if anyone has some advice for you. It may involve a little bit of TeX hacking in your LyX files, but I think you can do it with considerably less work than trying to convert the typeface.
