I tried uninstalling LyX 1.5.1 and using the alternate installer, but still
had the same problem (though the error message was harder to see).  The
error is a python stack trace, which, as far as I can tell from a cursory
look at the python docs should not happen (involves OverflowWarning, which
isn't supposed to exist somehow..., see

Anyhow, I manually ran the configure.py script in C:\Program Files\LyX
1.5.1\Resources (took a LONG time) and now lyx runs perfectly.

There is some kind of bug in the installer perhaps, or the way this script
is run by lyx on initial startup.
