Insert the xfig files via Insert->External material and not the graphics 
inset. Then you can simply mark any text in xfig as 'special' and write 
LaTeX code such as formulas. This LaTeX code will then be automatically 
rendered in the document font in the final ps or pdf document. You don't 
need to export anything, LyX and xfig will do the right magic for you.

PS: Somebody who is familiar with this should document this with an example 
in the wiki please (or even better send a patch to Uwe's new 
EmbeddedObjects.lyx document)
