Still having no luck with installing a new layout/class!

I have:
1) Copied the svmult.cls file to c:\localtexmf\tex (although I had to
create this \tex directory)
2) Copied the layout files which I downloaded from
http://www.otaru-uc.ac.jp/~yokota/
3) Ran "Refresh" from the MikTex Options tool
4) Ran "Edit -> Reconfigure" from within Lyx. Odd thing here: It prompts
me about package installation twice where the name and title of the
package is blank.
5) Restart Lyx.
...nothing!!! The package name does not appear on the list of document
classes, even marked as "Unavailable".
Getting desperate to get this job sorted so any help would be greatly
appreciated.
