In my document fonts etc. are set to default but when I export a PDF file using any of the three methods available its quality is poor when viewed with xpdf while being find in kghostview. This also goes for exporting a ps file and using ps2pdf. The output looks like a poor quality scan in either xpdf of Acrobat reader.
I emailed the pdf version to my supervisor today, having resolved to fix the quality issue later, but he replied to say that the printer had "mangled it" although he had been able to see it on the screen (he was probably using MacOS9 and Acrobat reader.
Seems to me like some sort of font issue but I can't work out exactly what (I don't really understand the way ps and pdf files use fonts). Can anyone advise me on safe settings which work?
