Thanks Angus for you suggestion.  Unfortunately it did not show up in my
document class list.  I have also noticed that other .layout file which
are in the directory /usr/share/lyx/layout/ are not listed as well, for
example apa.layout.

I have also noticed a directory /usr/share/lyx/txt/ which has several
.cls files in it.
