Jim,

Don't know if this will help as I've not used any Microsoft software in
about seven years now. But, ... I have about a dozen eps figures (so far) in
my book (LyX-1.3.3) and when I export to pfdlatex they come out just fine. I
use 'tgif' to create the figures and that application saves them as .eps
files when I "print" them to disk.

In the document I use a figure float and the figure loads -- and displays
-- just fine. When I use ctrl-d to view the dvi output the figures are
there. When I export to pdflatex I can see the figures in the resulting pdf
file using both acroread and xpdf.

Could it be the vector drawing software you're using?
