Hello,

Sorry if I have missed this. I would like to use LyX cross references but I would also like to return the reader to the document location from where he/she has referenced the label from because the document is large (3GB). In some cases a label location can be accessed from many locations throughout this tome. Cross references don't seem to do it and neither do hyperlinks ( from what I have read). Is there an easy way to do this ? I did think that providing a cross reference from each relevant target label to the TOC might reduce the reader hassle but as the document it is compressed (now 500 Mb) using ghost-script, resulting in section numbering loss in the PDF reader sidebar.  The latter approach also requires the reader to know where they have come from; any recommendations of a document compressor other than ghost script would also be useful.

You might be talking about 'back references'. If you look under Document> Settings> PDF Properties, there is a tab (available only when you activate Hyperref support) labeled "Hyperlinks", and on that tab there is a drop-down for Back References. Try the different settings there.
