That is the issue. For me, on three computers—old and new—it always and only
happens when I restart LyX.
From the ticket:
I believe this is known. It has to do with how preview snippets are
cached. Changing the zoom level (in any way) forces them to regenerate, which
is why your workaround works.
JMarc, do you recall what the status of that issue is?
