Thanks for your swift and detailed answer.

My name is not "Enviat" hahaha, which literally means "Sent" in Catalan. My
name is Daniel.

 - "Acknowledgement" occurs 0 times in the ".po" files (searched from within
Poedit, with ignore case enabled).
 - "Acknowledgment" occurs twice in the ".po" files (same search criterion as
before). Their ids in Poedit are 2363 and 2364 (not relevant beyond Poedit).
   + 2363 (Acknowledgment) appears in the layouts (lib/layouts/) egs.layout,
elsart.layout, svcommon.inc <http://svcommon.inc>, svmul.layout.
   + 2364 (Acknowledgment.) appears in layout (lib/layouts/) egs.layout.

It is easy to get this information from within the Poedit program, by
right-clicking on a string.

All the above listed layouts are (la)tex classes for scientific articles or
books, but they have disappeared from the Internet, the CTAN site or have been
superseded by others; therefore it may be sensible to get rid of them and their
translatable strings.

Sorry, I thought it was to be translated, and so I did; of course ignoring the
square brackets, as the README.localization file states.
I can email back the po files with the change if you want me to.

Summing up,
 1. I suspect the problem comes from taking into account an obsolete string in
the po files, which yields the first entry in the layouttranslations file,
despite not indexed by Poedit because it is marked as obsolete (see
https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/Obsolete-Entries.html).
Run
      grep -n -e 'Acknowledgement' ca.po
to get the lines having that word: they are commented out, hence marked as
obsolete.
 2. Can send the po files with "Notes[[Endnotes]]" corrected if you want me to.
Or maybe you want to correct them yourself.

Please, let me know what you want me to do with respect to both problems,
namely the former.

Daniel.
