Besides all the usual small fixes we might stumble on, I plan to do
two main things in 1.4.3:
- backport the no-sh set of patches from Bo, so that minsys is not
needed anymore in windows.
- backport the outline feature. Martin told me he has a patch ready.
We could even release 1.4.3 in September with these features.
Thoughts?
Hmmm... the more 1.5 features we back-port, the longer it will take to
release 1.5!
Personally, I would prefer a 1.5 release by the end of the year. The Qt4
frontend is a major step forward for many, many Windows users. But IIRC
you don't consider this (alone) as a feature that justifies another
major release.
Actually, IIRC I think JMarc considers this as a good enough reason for
releasing 1.5. The only missing feature feature of the Qt4 frontend is
the bullet settings dialogs. Could you confirm this Edwin?
I think a 1.4.3/qt3 with the outline feature, scons and the no-sh
followed shortly by a 1.5.0 (qt4 only) would make a lot sense. Those
worried that a lyx/qt3 is not available could use lyx 1.4.3 and don't
loose many feature from the 1.5.0 branch. With some more work, we could
even achieve the multiple WorkArea and LyXView...
