I have had write access, but I promised Lars to wait for the green
signal to commit patches as big as the 'view-source' one. My point is
that if we can have a sand-box branch (or a separate repository that
may be synced to trunk regularly), and an automatic service to
generate binaries, it is much easier for people to test new features. 
Maybe we can advertise in lyx-user/website/wiki that "The best way to
help us is to grab the daily snapshot and report bugs". You know, not
many people can write code, or willing to donate money, but crash once
or twice is  tolerable, especially when there are exciting new
features.
