This was only a shot in the dark. What happens if you start lyx with -dbg tclass? It should print lots of lines like Reading input file /tmp/lyx-1.4-cvs/lib/layouts/stdcounters.inc Finished reading input file /tmp/lyx-1.4-cvs/lib/layouts/stdcounters.inc Reading style Section Reading style Subsection Reading style Subsubsection ... Does it find textclass.lst? Maybe -dbg files helps, too. Georg
