One thing I don't like is that it has two effects: open *and* put the cursor
inside. I doesn't seem a great advantage to me: as you have already the
mouse in hand, you better go and click exactly on the spot you want to edit
(which is unlikely to be the first position...).

Me neither. And note that I don't have a precise idea on how to fix it
(either way), that why I'm going on and on with this thread ;-)
