Hm...

I've recently seen a presentation on the subversion/submaster combo and
I was pretty impressed, especially with it's 'offline capabilities'.

This submaster thing basically creates a local copy of the 'CVS
repository' and you work against this - completely offline if you want.
And from time to time you resync. 

Of course, this should be possible with CVS, too, but so far seemingly
nobody developed sufficient interest to make this _easy_.
