And that's _the_ argument against 'styles as ranges'.

And there other sensible interpretations of the situation and no way for
the user to specify any other than this arbitrarily selected default.

E.g.

   <a>...</a><b><a>...</a>...</b>

And as soon as one adds some 'hierarchy' here, one is back to boxes in
boxes...
