I suppose it's no different for LaTeX. We would have inevitably

        \a{...\b{...}}\b{...}

as the '}' is not visibly associated with the '\a{' or '\b{' that
opened it, like is the case in XML: logically you could have

        <a>...<b>...</a>...</b>

but you dont ;-)
