on LyX1.3.1CVS xforms-0.89
I find it annoying that the floating windows (such as Layout->Character at the moment) are not always on top. That is, I select text, select Layout->Character, do my stuff, then select more text. Now the floating layout window is hidden since LyX is maximised to the full display size.
My advice then is to not maximize the lyx window.

I have a feeling that the QT2 frontend solves this using docking or something? Well for xforms I propose an extra checkbox for "always on top" which lives either in the preferences, or in the commonly used
