Only a DESM is certainly a step forward but doesn't solve Alfredo's original complaint: non-const cursor movement. And he really is right. I'll work on a patch to remove just DEPM, leaving current DESM behaviour. Then we can look if a three-space DESM is reasonable, or not. regards john p.s. what's the opposite of an Empty Space anyhoo ?
