You are talking about different things. Currently, the "keep aspect ratio" button uses the "keepaspectratio" option from graphicx. "If set to true then both specifying 'width' and 'height' (or 'totalheight') does not distort the figure but scales such that neither of the specified dimensions is exceeded." (from graphicx doc) What you want is done by leaving one field blank. So the option does only make sense when both width and height are used (furthermore, in some cases height and not width will be relevant). I agree with Dekel that the naming of this option is misleading, though. Regards, Jürgen.
