Hm. Maybe you are right here. But does it hurt to add a \def\lyxquote#1{}
in the preamble and \lyxquote{...} in the text?

[Why? - But the poitn is mood, both approaches will break in certain
circumstances]

What else did I say?

[In case you meant it the other way round: reLyX is working but
un-maintained and I see no change soon. The math parser is working,
maintained, and about a third the size of reLyX]

As soon as the user invokes LFUN_INSET_TOGGLE (curetnly in front of the
inset to be locked, but I'll change theat to 'after' as the it would be
more natural to type  C-e W <space> C-I  to insert a calligraphic 'W'.
And of course things like that could be bound to command-sequences.
