Sure, but I would bet that mathed has some things easier on it compared
to the requirements of insettabular/insettext. No-one (except Juergen I
guess) really knows what they are though. And I find the code really
difficult to understand, I don't think I will ever understand
InsetText::updateInsetInInset even on a basic level.

This is partly because the things are damn complex, but I think there is
an aspect of just code accrual (is that a word ?) that has made things
more difficult.

Of course rewrites are "never the solution" which is why the parallel
development thing is a really good idea ...
