Oh yes, but for example the default instalation of python in rh 7.3 is still 1.5.2, and that applies for all the previous versions of rh that people are using. Actually the reason is interesting, since they consider python a major component of their system they only update it in a x.0 release. I know that lyx is not for linux, not even for rh only, the question is the usual regarding the used tools. Notice that if we write code for 1.5.2, as a least common denominator, it will work for all the other versions of python.
