Ruurd,

Lyx 1.2.0 seems to run stable on my system now. I've started to rewrite the
html docu because of many changes in setting up Lyx.

I've packages Lyx together with the following
    1) newest XFree-DLL's
    2) ImageMagick compiles under Cygwin
    3) epstopdf.exe compiled under Cygwin

The old gs 4.03 will no longer be offered by me. Lyx now uses XPM to show
images inside so we can use the official ghostscript 6.51 from Cygwin just to
change EPS to anything else!

You may wonder, why I've packaged Cygwin versions of ImageMagick and epstopdf.

Although I run mikTex 2.1 I don't have that graphics-bin.cab and therefor no
epstopdf. I've fetched that from their webpage now. Then I've tested
ImageMagick as well as epstopdf both windows versions:
Many Dos-windows popped up. And it was really slooooooow!

So I've compiled ImageMagick under Cygwin. Using Cygwin versions for both
ImageMagick and epstopdf shows:
No disturbing popup windows. An acceptable speed while converting images.

So my decision was clear - for this release of Lyx.

IMHO a native Windows/MINGW-version of Lyx should use native versions of all
tools. But now it seems to be better to use their cygwin companions.

I hope to be ready for releasing Lyx on monday!
Have a nice weekend and take care

Claus
