Huh. I did not have any of these problems.

I am using the latest cygwin, autoconf 2.13, automake-1.5.

I just "configure" and "make".

Hmmm... No such problems here. Send me a small tarball with lyx file and
images.

Yes. I had to compile an older version of gs to get around this. gs-6.51.
