Guys,
I know it's feature freeze. Anyway I decided to send this patch,
because I think these features are long overdue and the changes to the
code are harmless.
This patch adds two more special characters: normal space (\<space>)
and thin space (\,), with a screen display and handling similar to the
protected space (see the attached screenshot). IMHO these commands
belong to the basics that LyX should support.
The patch is not my work (as you may see), but I have tested it and
like it very much, and since Herbert (who is the author) decided not to
send it now but told me that I can do with it what I want, I do with it
what I want, and I want to have that feature in LyX ;-)
And indeed it's only a small (but important) feature...
