Well I run update every time I see some changes commited as otherwise I
would have to resolve too much clashes every time!

No this has to be somewhere else! This cur_cell stuff only works if we
are inside a cell but what if we call the LyXTabular::update() method?
We don't have a current_cell stuff if we are not INSIDE the inset!

P.S.: About the comment I think we should put Asserts there as we really
shouldn't get wrong numbers there!
