Note that this is symptomatic of a wider bindings problem: the
bindings are often slightly keyboard specific. For example, the
binding for subsection* is (from memory) something like M-p
S-numbersign. But what this really 'means' is M-p S-3, by analogy with 
M-p 3 for subsection.  On many keyboards, S-3 is numbersign, so
S-numbersign is correct.  On UK keyboards, S-3 is pound...

Similarly shift-2 is @ on some keyboards, and " on others.

Would Lyx understand S-3, instead of S-numbersign??
