Scott, I am not sure when we want to apply this.
I prefer not for 2.2.0.
It can now go to 2.3-staging. Is this something we want in 2.2.x? If so,
it's fine to go to 2.2.1-staging, as it doesn't actually affect anything
in the code.
I guess the cmake question is still open.....
