I do not use gnome so I have never seen this before. :-)

In any case if the problem occurs it would be nice to provide a solution for 
it, possibly by using an svg icon (I admit to be ignorant on this issue).

lib/image/lyx.svg has been added 2 years ago. Maybe is it time to 
package it ;)
