I don't remember if there is a hard deadline for signing up as a mentor.
However, it looks like we definitely are going to have many student
applications, so we may get applications for all project proposals on the
LyX wiki. This means we should have all the mentors who are listed there
officially registered.
In the end, we will only get a few slots allocated, so registration as a
mentor does not automatically mean that you will end up mentoring a
project. However, even those mentors whose project is not chosen are
eligible for a stipend (and of course encouraged to help with the other
projects), so I would definitely recommend signing up!
