Long time ago it turned out that many users don't know what ERT is. As the button for it is named
"TeX" and the term "TeX-code" was already somewhere in the docs, I consistently replaced ERT by
TeX-code. I admit that I was not thinking about possible consequences, I just wanted consistent docs
when I took over them and to have a more meaningful name.
We also already had a lengthy discussion about it. I agree that "evil red text" is funny, but
meaningless. Even experienced LyX users of my students didn't know about it. So we agreed to leave
it in the docs.
If you make now an announcement wit the term "ERT" we can expect that most of the users don't know
what we mean. (Note also that except of some Wiki pages, this term is nowhere explained since years
now.)
Whatever the meaning of ERT (I still like the old meaning, btw) the
previous entry correctly stated that the commands should be in ERT.
It is not the same as TeX-code, because the following (where [[ and ]]
delimit ERT)
[[\input{]]name[[}]]
is TeX-code which is not (fully) in ERT.
This is not TeX-Code. TeX-code is the name of the inset/box. Its content can be everything. I think
that the docs clearly state this.
