Why is that usefule? LyX cannot really be "cited" since it is no document but a 
program.
What you can do is to reference one of our manuals or the www.lyx.org homepage. Note that there is no defined BibTeX entry for these kind of "citations". You can use the "misc", "electronic", or "other" term at the beginning of your BibTeX entry. However, since I'm writing my thesis I learned that citing a webpage is still not allowed in all cases. The reason is that webpages come and go. I see it by myself checking the webpages I referenced in my thesis: Some that that I last accessed in 2008, like product data sheets, no longer exist.

Before we add a listing, we should better provide a BibTeX entry. But as said above, I don't think its worth it.
