I don't know what boxes are, but I do have a proposed behavior for LyX.
Specified environments (e.g. Theorem, Proof, stuff from Beamer) get
flagged with some attribute which I'll call "separable." Currently,
when a user presses "Enter" on a blank line, LyX ignores it. However,
for separable environments, LyX would insert a "--Separator--".
I think this would be an easy way to improve usability.
But - what to do when you _want_ a multi-paragraph theorem?
Today, you can write a multi-paragraph theorem and it will work. IT gets
a single theorem number. If you want another theorem to follow, you
insert that separator.
If "enter" always makes a separator, then you get the opposite problem:
No multiparagraph theorems. Well, this could be solved by nesting
standard paragraphs into the theorem layout - similiar to how one makes
a multi-paragraph entry in an itemized list.
