Can I make one more suggestion about this? How about a symlink
lyx.tar.gz (or something of the sort) that always points to the most
recent version? Then we can just put a link to
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/stable/lyx.tar.gz on the download page and
people won't have to worry about finding the right one, unless they want
to deal with that.
By the way, what's the expected date for 1.5.7?
