hmm if we are in black hole, then lets try to get little back in the

what was the reason to the menu change? imho the fact that users(=we) are
discontent with the current menu.

so the first thing, the end result has to be something less annoying than the
current state; thats why the question of legacy really arises - if the changes
are going to upset more then the current state there is no point to change
anything.

sorry if i'm just repeating what has been said, but:

1. is there some consesus/do we have properly mapped what is exactly wrong with
   the menu from the users point of view?
   (this would need some kind of questionary)
   
2a. do these things need big restructuralisation or
2b. are these somehow manageable through simple changes?

i tend to say that if we are not able to agree on 1 then there is no point of 
changing
anything, because except hig committee most people will be only annoyned by 
learning 
something new, possibly unlogical in their view.

imho the hig applies mainly in case 2a. and also as a defense on threads 
starting
"hey gyus i want this item move over there" once menu is stable (like now).
