The problem is that most of the installer features are from me and later bit by bit also used in Joost's installer, but I was never contacted or asked by him BEFORE such a changes were made. I mean I have contacted the authors of MiKTeX, ImageMagick, Ghostscript, JabRef to get versions I could use for the installer. I even wrote for JabRef a new installer, I developed together with the MiKTeX developer some interfaces that were needed,

Nobody deny your merits. But we are talking about the duplication of source code here not about the necessary communication with external project.

... So I'm not the one duplicating features. (I haven't used code by Joost until now, btw.)

I did not say so. I just say that there is some duplication of effort, that's all.

And he doesn't need to collaborate with me?
I had the impression that's what he tried to do with his message, didn't he?

I don't understand why someone who joined the LyX installer business much later, don't need to collaborate with me, but did always what he want without contacting me before.
OK, we all need how it begun. And I also agree he should have been more open in his initial development. But perhaps you could forgive him someday?

This is no basis for a collaboration, I gave up that a collaboration is possible. Christian's try to bring us together was noc success as I wrote.

There are more differences.

You mean a Live Lyx?
No, sorry I was talking to joost here. I just meant that instead of downloading and installing lates version of ImageMagick, Joost could offer the option to bundle a tested version of ImageMagick like you do in your installer.

This could be created, but giving support for such a beast is horrible since the LaTeX packages often interfere and in most cases the solution is simply to make a MikTeX update.

To say it like I feel about this: What is the effort of Joost's installer, despite he used my work and many of my features for his installer?
I'd like to state again that source code is meant to change and to be reused. Yes, it is your work but the end result is not yours anymore as long as you open sourced it. Joost or anyone else has all right to reuse it and he should be welcome to do so IMHO.

What was this? I haven't followed the many posts about this issue but seen that this feature was removed from SVN now. Or why have you added a smiley to a drama?
Because I was kidding... I see that this is still a highly sensitive subject so I'll shut up now. I tried...
