in the meantime setting a shortcut screws up my bindings: backspace,
delete and the arrows don't work anymore...
Please provide more details such as shortcuts you set, the content of
user.bind, and if lyx works fine if you remove user.bind and restart.
again, no relevant details really: afaict it doesn't matter what i do
(add a new shortcut, remove an existing one) things are borked, and if i
remove user.bind everything is ok again.

i must say that i don't understand why i get two entries for a command
when i remove a shortcut
i also don't see why you subclassed the lineedit for the search widget
another bug is that "applying" actually save the changes...
