After all, this was why the wide() thing was introduced initially, AFAIR.
Bennett testing would be welcome of course but you don't need him to
know if performance is better (especially since he's got is much
powerful box now). "-dbg painting" will tell you all. Compare the
console output of the patched and unpatched version while typing in
inset and within insets, including within paragraphs containing maths.
Helge has a crappy video card and the difference on his box will show
for sure. Another test is to launch LyX through an adsl or rtc link.
