THese are two different things (I believe that you know the stuff below...): - date-insert was meant originally to add a date at the beginning of a note; it is the date at the time where the thing is written - the date external inset template is the date at the time of creating the latex file; it as created as a fun way to show of the then new external inset. All in all, I think that none of these two uses has been thoroughly thought out, and it shows. JMarc
