All in all, I think that none of these two uses has been thoroughly thought out, and it shows.
I know the differences but it is confusing for the user that they are in different menus and look different. So for later LyX versions it would perhaps be good to have ONE date inset with a menu where the user can select beween the three different date input methods:
- date-external - date-insert - LaTeX's \today command Would this be a good solution? In the meantime I skip the exact description in the docs. regards Uwe
